Released today in 1989: Only The Lonely

Siren SRN107

The last single from Carol Decker’s T’Pau in the 80s, Only The Lonely brings to end promotion for their second album, Rage. Sales of this set were disappointing, considering the success of their debut Bridge of Spies – the latter included three Top 10 hits including the #1 China In Your Hand, and was certified four-times platinum, while Rage’s highest charting single was Secret Garden (#18) and managed platinum only once. Nevertheless, that was still over 300,000 sales, so there was enough of an audience for a tour or two. There was plenty of time for live shows too, as T’Pau’s next studio recordings wouldn’t be released for another two years.
